Engineer Explains: What is JAMstack? Matt Biilmann breaks it down for us

Antonija Bilic Arar

We've asked experienced engineers to share how they would explain some tech terminology at three levels of experience - from junior developer to CTO.

JAMstack is almost 10 years old. For developers today, it’s just a natural way they’ve learned to build websites.

But it wasn’t always like that. Biilman coined the term in 2015. to be able to easily refer to the architectural approach of decoupling the app logic from the backend and infrastructure.

“JAMstack allowed new developers to learn web technology and build websites really quickly without having to dive into a lot of backend and infrastructure code,” says Matt.
